- NICHOLS, WILLIAM ROBSON who was born in Markham in 1860, was a graduate of Trinity Medical College in 1886. He may at this time have taken postgraduate work in obstetrics and gynecology in New York. The Dumfries Reformer announced on April 28, 1887 that he had commenced practice in Baden.
The Baden correspondent to the Berliner Journal commented on November 6, 1890:
Dr. W. Nichols, Physician, Surgeon and Dentist, has since he has been an inhabitant of Baden earned a good reputation of being conscientious and prompt every time that he has been called, to endeavor to bring relief and comfort to the patient.
On September 16 , l897 the Journal said:
Dr. Nichols will be leaving Baden and Dr. Butler will take his place.
On October 6th. the Volksblatt said that he left Baden with his family on September 30th., the family to stay in Markham while he was to go to Vienna for postgraduate work.
He became a licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians, London, in 1899, and of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1902.
He moved to Winnipeg where he became prominent in medical circles. He died from a cerebral haemorrhage on December 5, 1923, being survived by a widow and four daughters,

NICHOLS - William Robson 62 years, of 83 Carlton st., died early Tuesday morning. Dr. Nichols, for many years a surgeon In this city, earned an enviable reputation specializing in specializing in children's diseases. He was a member of Broadway Methodist church, and took a keen interest in its activities. The funeral will take place from the residence and Grace church on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock to Elmwood cemetery.
