- William L. Paff - By Record Staff Writer - NEW HAMBURG - William L. Paff, 76, of 265 Peel St., New Hamburg, died at the wheel of his car here Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Paff were driving home when Mr. Paff collapsed, apparently from a heart attack; Mrs. Paff managed to turn off the ignition and the car coasted into the high snow covered bank at the edge of Highway 7 and 8 at the outskirts of the village. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. T. C. Kirkpatrick. Mr. Paff was born in North Easthope Township. He retired from farming 18 years ago. He was a member of Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church and was a Sunday school teacher for a number of years. Surviving are his wife, the former Pearl Klein, whom he married in 1928, three sisters, Mrs. Emma Wilhelm of North Easthope; Mrs. Nathaniel (Margaret) Ratz and Olive Paff, both of Baden. The body will be at the Futher-Omand Funeral Home, New. Hamburg, until Wednesday when removal will be made to Zion EUB Church, where Rev. F. Paul Erb will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. Temporary entombment will be in the Graff Memorial Chapel at Riverside Cemetery.
