  • Notes 
    • Alexander Stewart, 1798 - 1852 was born in Stirlingshire, Scotland. Circa 1815, he went to Glasgow and was apprenticed to a merchant in High Street. Later, he had his own shop in the suburbs. In 1819 he married Rachel Kennedy, 1799 - 1885 of Glasgow, by whom he had nine children, all of whom were born in Glasgow. Two, David and Mary died in childhood in Glasgow. In 1842, he and his wife and seven remaining children emigrated to Canada and took up land in Upper Canada in the area north of Guelph known as the Queen's Bush, East 1/2 lot 14, concession 1, Peel Township. He died at this farm between Wallenstein and Macton, January 27, 1852 and was buried in Hawkesville Cemetery.
