- Jakob Zinkhann
A fatal accident befell 63-year-old Jakob Zinkhann on Friday afternoon in St. Agatha. He resides at the corner of Waterloo and Wellington Streets in Berlin. He was involved with the improvement of the well at Mr. Friedrich Bächler's (Baechler's) place in St. Agatha, and fell down a distance of about twenty feet, while climbing down. He was brought up to the surface and since his injuries appeared extremely serious, his relatives in Berlin were informed of the accident. His sons, Jakob and Edward, hurried to their injured father with a doctor and two others; however, the former succumbed to his injuries at 7: 30 p.m. The body was transported to Berlin at night and the burial took place on Monday afternoon. The members of the K.O.T.M. and the Federal-Union attended the latter.

MET DEATH IN A WELL.
A very sad accident occurred On the premises of Mr. Beckley, a retired gentleman of St. Agatha on Friday afternoon last, by which Mr. Jacob Zinkan, a citizen of Berlin, aged about 66 years, lost his life. Mr. Zinkan was engaged in deepening an old well (which was already 70 feet deep) and intended placing concrete tile as a lining for additonal excavation of about nine feet. One tile had already been placed, and at half-past three o'clock in the afternoon the second tile was lowered. The deceased then attempted to descend the rope for the purpose of loosening it from the tile, and when about 15 feet from the top his hold slipped and he fell the remainder of the distance with terrific force, treaking his spine. The sufferer lived about four hours after the accident, when death came to his relief. Mr. Zinkan is an old resident of Berlin, residing on Waterloo street. He leaves a widow and nine children, four sons and five daughters
