Walter was the beloved husband of Gwen (nee Mader) Arndt of Kitchener, having celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on July 28, 2001. Loving father of Tom and his wife Sheila of Waterloo, Dan and his wife Cathy of Kitchener and Doug Arndt of Kitchener, adored grandfather of Jordan, Dylan, Ryan and Andrew; dear brother of Donald of Kitchener, Kenneth and Marjorie of Waterloo, James and Martha Arndt of Lowe Farm, Manitoba, Ruth and Ken Bauman of Elmira, Kathryn Arndt, Rose Arndt both of Kitchener. Also, survived by brother-in-law, Arnott Mader, as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Ernst and Frieda (Ziegler) Arndt, and brothers Howard, David and Albert. Walter was the ultimate family man. He loved to take family daytrips, Blue Jays games, beach days and bus trips. He adored his Grandboys, setting aside his chores whenever they dropped by. He loved to help his boys in their lives often spending many weekends fixing their homes and gardens. His family was always his first priority.
Walter started his trade as a stone mason in 1946 with Dunkers Construction. He then moved to George and Asmussen where he retired in 1996 after 46 years of service. He was proud to have laid the corner stone at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium, the Centre in the Square, and Benton Street Baptist Church as well as many other prominent buildings throughout the city. Walter was an active member of Benton Street Baptist church, serving in various capacities through the years.
