- WILL CONDUCT T.B. TESTS HERE SOON
20,000 Head of Cattle Will Be Examined in District Around Saskatoon
Approximately 20,000 head of cattle in the Saskatoon district are to be tested for tuberculosis during the next month. This will be in connection with arrngements under way for the establishment of a bovine tuberculosis free area.
The work of testing the cattle is the under the direction of Dr. C. J. Johannes, representing the Domnion veterinary branch. Offices have been opened in Suite 3 of the National Trust building, and tomorrow morning 13 veterinarians will make a start on testing.
Testing is to be carried out in the municipalities of Loganton, Park, B. Cory, Warman and Montrose.
There are from 3.700 to 4,100 cattle in each of the municipalities, which works out at a total of about 20,000.
Only the first test will be completed within the next month. Any infected herds will have to be retested in the course of 60 days after the first test, Dr. Johannes said.
