  Death of Robert Cuthbertson - Prominent Business Man Called to His Reward In the sudden passing early Monday morning of Robert Cuthbertson, death removed one of Ayr's most prominent and respected business men. He had been ill since Good Friday of Rheumatic fever, but his condition was not considered serious until a few days prior to his demise, when complications set in and he sand rapidly until the end came. Word of his death came as a great shock to the entire community, and expressions of regret were heard on all sides. He was well and favorably known to a large acquaintanceship as a man of many sterling qualities and, in his quiet and unassuming way, made friends of practically everyone. He was born in Ayr 65 years ago and had resided here nearly all his life. He took over the management of the present Boot and Shoe and Telephone Business from his father 38 years ago, and purchased outright 7 years later. His brother, the late Hugh Cuthbertson, was the first local manager of the Bell Telephone Company being appointed about 50 years ago, and the exchange has always remained in the same building. He always enjoyed the confidence of the public in his various business dealings, and was noted for his courtesy and fairness. While he did not aspire to civic honors, he served one term on the village council about 10 years ago. In religion he was a member of Knox United Church and attended services regularly. Thirty-one years ago he was married to Janet Filshie of Mount Forest, who, along with one daughter, Marion, and one son, Filshie, are left to mourn the (2 lines unreadable) ..ter also survive: William, London; John, Collingville, Ill.; Thomas, Toronto; David and Mrs. Albert Melvin, Ayr.
