- Emil C. Bergen, 100 Moore Ave., died Friday at K-W Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 89. Born in Germany Sept. 18, 1880, Mr. Bergen lived in the Twin Cities for 88 years and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He was associated with D. Barnett and Co. Ltd., retiring in 1962. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bergen. Surviving are his wife, the former Louise Koch; two sons, Vernon of Kitchener and Douglas of Waterloo; two daughters, Mrs. Hedwig Howlett, Pontiac, Mich., Mrs. Herbert (Elsie) Koch, Kitchener; two brothers, Theodore and Robert W., both of Kitchener; one sister, Mrs. Walter (Emma) Bacher, Kitchener; 23 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three sons, Louis, Otto and Harold and one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Wilson. The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where committal service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Korcok, minister of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be made in Mount Hope cemetery. Donations to the mission fund of the church will be accepted as expressions of sympathy.
