At Purdin last Saturday, occurred the death of an aged pioneer, William Burkholder, aged 88 years. The funeral occurred in the old Burkholder neighborhood at the United Brethren church, some fifteen miles north of Brookfield last Sunday, largely attended, for the deceased man had been a citizen there for nearly forty years. Mrs. Ralph Laing, of Brookfield, is also a daughter. William Burkholder was born in Pennsylvania. The name Burkholder in the northern portion of Linn county means good citizenship.
