- Fred Timm, 85, Town Councilor in 1896, Dies
Death called 85-year-old Fred Tim, 303 Park Street, today, terminating a long and useful life. He had been confined to the K-W Hospital.
Mr. Timm served on the council in 1896, when Kitchener was the town of Berlin. He was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department for several years, and was an employee of the Dominion Tire Co. from the time of its organization here, until he was pensioned. His recent occupation was that of sexton at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, where he worshipped.
The elderly man was a member of St. Mark's Brotherhood, and the Canadian Order of Foresters. Born in Germany Dec. 7, 1858, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis Timm (nee Graf), he came to Canada at the age of two years. He was married to Henrietta Dechler on April 11, 1882. She predeceased him by seven years.
Four sons and two daughters survive Mr. Timm. They are Edgar of Waterloo, Fred, William and Gordon of Kitchener; Mrs. Otto Weber, London, Ont., and Mrs. Fred Fischer, Kitchener. A brother, Chris Timm of Saskatoon, a sister, Mrs. Mary Yanke, of Guelph; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive.
A public funeral service will be held from the Schreiter-Sandrock funeral Home, Thursday, at three o'clock, with Rev. A.G. Jacobi officiating. Interment will be made in the Freeport Cemetery. The remains are resting at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home.
