Duncan Dewar of Welles- ley Passes Away--Well Known and Highly Respected
The funeral was held this afternoon in the village of Wellesley of an aged and highly respected resident of that place, when Mr. Duncan Dewar, aged 72 years, was laid to rest.
On Monday last, death Mr. Dewar from the village, removed where he has resided for many years Before moving to Wellesley Mr. Dewar lived practically his life all on the Dewar homestead. Third line. When two years old. he was taken there with his parents from Scotland, who were early pioneers of the county, his whole life since being spent in the county. He has a large relationship among old families, being related to Robinsons, McGillowees and the McDonalds.
Mr. Dewar was prominent in municipal life. He was a staunch Reformer. In religion he was a Presbyterian, being closely associated with that church at both the Third line and in the village. He was one of the most highly reisdents of the village.
He was an enthusiastic bowler, and will be remembered by many of the Berlin club. Always an ardent bowler, when illness seized him. some years ago, he was made hororary member of the club.
A widow and two sons survive him, besides one brother, Thomas, on the old homestead. Another brother Peter, predeceased him about twenty years ago.
Burial took place this afternoon at the Zion Presbyterian cemetery, which occupies a position on one corner the old Dewar homestead.
