    • Reta Bechtel, 1917-2008, passed away, at Heritage House in St. Jacobs, on Sunday, October 12, 2008, at the age of 91 years.

      Dear sister of Ruth Gentle of Kitchener and Clarene Martin of Waterloo. Lovingly remembered by her nieces, Audrey Shaw, Donna Shaw, Heather Ogram and nephews, Greg Gentle and Darrel Martin. Great-aunt of Wade, Erica, Lindsay, Dylan and Jeffery. Predeceased by brothers, Willis Bechtel and his wife Marilyn, Clare Bechtel, and brothers-in-law, Howard Martin and Derek Gentle.

      Reta retired from St. Mary's General Hospital, where she worked in the Dietary Department for 25 years. Reta was also well known for her specialty coffee cakes. She was a member of First Mennonite Church in Kitchener.

      Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King St. S., Waterloo, today (Wednesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 2 p.m. Reception to follow the service. Interment in Mannheim Mennonite Cemetery.

      Donations in Reta's memory may be made to Mennonite Central Committee or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario and can be arranged through the funeral home, 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com.

      In living memory of Reta, a donation will be made to the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.
