- SCHACK, William (Bill)
At St. Raphael's Nursing Home, Kitchener, on Friday, Sept. 20, 1991, Bill Schack, formerly of Clark Ave., Kitchener, age 95 years. Bill was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. He had been employed for Merchant's Rubber for 40 years until his retirement in 1981. He was an avid baseball fan and had played for the city of Berlin and was on the championship team in 1914 and was the last surviving member of the team and had played with the Kaufman's team in 1917. Bill had participated in barbershop quartets all his life. Father of Valera Dickson and her husband Elgin of Kitchener, Carl and his wife Helen of Paisley; one grandson, Tom and his wife Leeann Dickson; five great-grandchildren, Jeff, Janeane Tremble and her husband Steve of Orangeville, Susan and James Schack and Taylor Dickson; and one great-great-grandson, Jeremy. Sadly missed by Sherron Schack of Orangeville. Predeceased by his parents, Karl and Eva Schack; his wife, Jennie in 1982; one son, Billy in 1934; one grandson; Wayne in 1986; two brothers, Gus and Emil; two sisters, Mrs. Gordon (Minnie) Ruppel of Kitchener and Mrs. Roy (Claire) Baumgarten of California. Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, today (Monday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m., with Pastor Paul Schult officiating. Interment will be in Kitchener Mount Hope cemetery.
