- Death of Former Resident
The following article from a Fresno, Cal., paper refers to the death of Dr. Peter Manson, a native of Ayr, and a first cousin of both Wm. And John Manson of Ayr:
Two paralytic strokes, one following a week after the other, caused the death last night of Dr. Peter Manson, one of the best known physicians and surgeons of Fresno County. Death took place at the Manson home on Kearney Avenue. Dr. Manson was 69 years old and a native of Ayr, Canada. He had lived in Fresno for ten years and had an extensive practice among residents of the city and county.
Dr. Manson was graduated in 1869 from the medical college at Ann Harbor, Mich. He first practiced in Grass Valley, Nevada County, but after several years went to Virginia City. He purchased the Manson Place in Fresno in 1888. However, he did not come here until 1904. A widow and four children survive. The sons are William, Robert and Guy Manson. The daughter is Hazel Manson. Dr. Guy Manson is chief surgeon at the county hospital.
The doctor was active in his practice until a short time ago. He was influential in city and county medical circles and had held the presidency of the Fresno County Medical Society.
