- Death of Annie McGeorge
Last Surviving Member of Prominent Ayr Family Passes on Friday
Miss Annie McGeorge, last surviving member of one of Ayr's oldest and most prominent families passed away on Friday morning, in her 84th year.
A daughter of the late Dr. Charles McGeorge, she was born in this village, where she had resided practically all of her lifetime. Her father was at one time reeve of the township of North Dumfries before Ayr was incorporated as a village, and her brother, the late Charles McGeorge, conducted a drug business here for may years. Deceased was a member of Christ Church and took a ; great interest in all community work. She suffered a stroke seven months ago and had been confined to her bed since that time. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon to the Ayr Cemetery, with Rev. C. F. Johnson, rector of Christ Church, in charge of the services.. The pallbearers were: John Q. Reid, James Bell, James W. Henderson, James Hope, James Pitcher and Arnold Muma. Those present from a distance included: A. J. Alexander, son and daughter, Brantford; Mrs. J. McLaughlin and son, Scott, Owen Sound; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Binden. Toronto; and Mr. and Mrs. 'Thomas McDonald. Windsor.
