  LEIS, Rev. Alvin D. - With sadness we, the family, announce the passing of Rev. Alvin Leis, on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1992, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener. Alvin resided on his farm at RR 1, Wellesley. Born in Wellesley Township 78 years ago, he was a son of the late John B. Leis and the late Barbara Gascho and step-son of the late Sarah Albrecht. Mr. and Mrs. Leis had farmed in Wellesley Township most of their lives. The Rev. Leis was ordained a Deacon April 24. 1960. He was also ordained a Minister at the Mapleview Mennonite Congregation, December 11, 1966, serving as Pastor until 1985. He was also the former treasurer of the Western Ontario Mennonite Conference. Beloved husband of Idella Kathleen (Kropf) Leis, whom he married June 8, 1935. Dear father of Albert and his wife Irene Leis of Poole, Shirley and her husband Howard Roth of Tavistock. Dear brother of Ervin Leis of Wellesley, Katie (Mrs. Elmer Lebold) of New Hamburg, Edna (Mrs. John Roth) of New Hamburg; brother-in-law of Viola Leis of Baden and Beatrice Leis of Wellesley. Lovingly remembered by seven grandchildren, Philip, Timothy, Deborah, Wanda Roth, Charlotte, Jennifer, Jeffrey Leis and also by six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by four brothers, Allan, Norman, Abner and John and by seven sisters, Salome, Barbara, Sarah, Emma, Nancy, Mary and Alma and also by one grandson, Myron Roth. Visitation at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, 40 Henry St., Wellesley, where the family will receive friends Thursday and Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At noon Saturday, Feb. 22, removal will be made to Mapleview Mennonite Church for the service at 2 p.m., Pastor Victor Dorsch will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Mennonite Central Committee would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy for the late Rev.
