    • Boy Drowns In The Grand Near Breslau

Wilfred Schlegel, 17-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. August Schlegel, 267 Wellington street, was drowned about three o'clock this afternoon while swimming in the Grand River near Boegel's farm, off the Breslau highway, two miles from the city.

Schlegel, who was swimming with his chum, Malcolm Williams, 124 Margaret Ave., was heard by the latter to shout. He went to the distressed boys' assistance. Schlegel, who was not a good swimmer, caught him by the legs and wrists and almost pulled his chum down as well. The drowning occurred in six feet of water.

Three quarters of an hour elapsed before the body was recovered and Drs. Turner and Kalbfleisch in addition to members of the Kitchener fire department worked over him for some time to no avail.

Schlegel is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Schlegel, four brothers, Arthur, Gordon, and Carl at home, and Oliver also of Kitchener, four sisters, Miss Alma Schlegel, Mrs. A. Reeves (Ruth), Mrs. Austin Forler, (Dorothy), of Kitchener, Mrs. A. Eichler, (Elsie) of Hespeler.

Death was accidental, according to Dr. Kalbfleisch, the coroner, and no inquest will be held.
