- HEYER, Douglas Roy - Passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Heyer family farm in North Easthope Township where he farmed for many years. He was born 53 years ago in Kitchener and was the son of the late Roy and Magdalene (Dietz) Heyer. Beloved husband of Carolyn (Gerber) Heyer whom he married June 4, 1977. Loving father of Shawna and Michael Mueller of Gadshill, Jeremy Heyer at home and Michelle Heyer of Kitchener. Sadly missed by his grandchildren, Chantal and Isabelle. Dear brother of David and Sharon Heyer, Diane Heyer, all of New Hamburg. Also missed by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Doreen Gerber of Brunner; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Debbie Heyer of Waterloo, Dennis and Joanne Gerber of Brunner, Susan and Larry Roes of Wellesley, Brenda and Robert Leis of Newton. Remembered by a number of nieces and nephews. Doug was predeceased by his brother, Donald Heyer. Doug was a member of Steinmann Mennonite Church, Baden. Doug enjoyed farming, traveling and the outdoors. Family and friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg, tonight (Saturday) from 7-9 p.m., again Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The burial will take place on Monday, May 25, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Steinmann Mennonite Cemetery, Baden. The service to celebrate Doug's life will follow the burial at 2 p.m. at Steinmann Mennonite Church, Baden with Pastor Myrna Miller Dyck and Pastor Steve Drudge officiating. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee or The Kidney Foundation of Canada.
