- A-2-9 Andrew Schnurr The Last Will and Testament of Andrew Schnurr, late of the Township of Waterloo, Yeoman, who died on or about the 4th of November 1858 at the Township of Waterloo and who at the time of his death had a fixed place of abode at the Township of Waterloo, was proved and registered in the said Surrogate Court…and that the administration of all and singular the personal estate and effect, right and credits of the said deceased…was granted to Andrew Haus of the Township of Waterloo, Blacksmith and Mathias Schlosser of the same place, Mason, the Executors named in said will…
I, Andrew Schnurr, resident in the County of Waterloo, Canada, do hereby publish my Last Will and Testament…My land and other property belongs to my wife Margaret until my son Lorenz comes of age when all moveable and immovable property belongs to him, with the conditions that my said son Lorenz pays to my two daughters Regina and Barbara each the sum of seventy dollars, so soon as they become of age according to law, however they must give him six months previous notice, he has also to procure for both daughters his sisters, a bed with the appurtenances, as soon as they are of age. But should my wife Margaret marry again after my death, then she must give up all the above, has to leave the lands and live with her husband, who has then to support her. Further, my son Lorenz shall as soon as he has taken possession of the premises he shall deliver to the mother one third of all that grows on the land, he must also keep for her on the land one cow and two hogs, and this do long as she lives and remains a widow. He has also to give my step daughter Margaret one bed with appurtenances, to dwell in, he has also to concede to the mother the room on the east side of the house, likewise room in the cellar to preserve her vegetables. For Executors of the above, my Last Will and Testament, I appoint Andrew Haus and Marthias Schlosser, resident here, with all power to act in so far as the above will permits as also the power to execute a lawful Deed to my children, or in case it should be necessary or the children die before the[y] become of age to their heirs.
