  From the Anstett Book, To Those Who Follow: Emigrated with parents in 1841 at six years of age and lived in Waterloo Township, Waterloo County, Ontario, Canada, near New Germany (now Maryhill) until 1854 when the family moved to Bruce County and settled in Formosa. Married Elizabeth Batte in Formosa, Ontario, on October 27, 1862. First school teacher in Formosa where he taught at the Immaculate Conception parish school for 13 years.
