- Schmidt, Carl N. (Gunboat) - At the K-W Hospital, on Friday, Dec. 18, 1981, after a lengthy illness, Carl Norman Schmidt, of 135 Bloomingdale Rd., Kitchener, aged 67 years. A member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bridgeport; had been employed at Kaufman Rubber Limited for 52 years; a member of the Bridgeport Vets and the Bridgeport Rod and Gun Club; he played junior hockey with the Kitchener Greenshirts and had been very active in hockey most of his life. Husband of the former Minnie Brinkert; father of William, Mrs. Jack (Joan) Schickler and Mrs. Douglas (Sandra) Wendling, all of Kitchener, Carl of Waterloo and Mrs. Carla Bast of Waterloo; brother of Albert, Mrs. William (Bertha) Nutter and Mrs. Percy (Elsie) Hertzberger, all of Kitchener, Milton of Boston and Mrs. Ted (Martha) Sim of Waterloo. Twelve grandchildren also survive. Predeceased by his parents. Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, after 2 p.m. today, where the funeral will be held in the chapel on Monday at 2 p.m., with Rev. Ralph W. Huras officiating. Internment will be in the Bridgeport Memorial cemetery. Donations to the K-W Hospital Cancer Floor may be made as expressions of sympathy.
