  WAS RESIDENT OF ELMIRA 30 YEARS Mrs. Catharine Kennedy, Aged 83, Succumbs to Short Illness; Funeral Held on Tuesday Following an illness of about three weeks there passed away at Elmira on Friday, May 21, Catharine Grosz, widow of the late William Kennedy, aged 85 years. The late Mrs. Kennedy was born in Germany in 1841 and came to this country at the age of five years. The family settled near Waterloo, and she attended school there. In 1861 she was married to William Kennedy and they remained at Waterloo for nine years then moving to Peel Township where they spent almost 30 years. In 1897 they came to Elmira where their remaining years were passed. Her husband predeceased her about a year ago. Of a family of nine children, seven survive. They are John of Kitchener, Anthony, Addison, Kate, Jemina, Maggie of Elmira and Emma (Mrs. C. W. Schreider) of Kitchener. The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon from her late residence, 57 King street to the Presbyterian church where services were conducted by Dr. McAvoy. Interment took place in the Elmira Union cemetery.
