      __________________________

      Henry Braun.

The subject of this sketch was born ia Kur-Hessen, Germany, in 1856. He came to Canada from his native land when only fifteen years of age, arriving in the new world alone and without the protecting care of parents. Under these circumstances and being one of Baden's leading business men to-day he is therefore entitled to favorable credit. To accomplish such a worthy position a mong his fellow men has been entirely through his own efforts in the face of obstacles which many of our prosperous business men did not have to contend with.

Mr. Braun first worked as a carpenter in Neustadt, remaining there about three years and subsequently was employed some time in Berlin. From the latter place he went to Wellesley village where he was engaged in business for eighteen years. He was married in 1877 to Eizabeth, daughter of Henry Hunstein. They have a family of five children. He opened a furniture establishment in Baden about a year and a half ago and has ever since been meeting with flattering encouragement. His stock is an extensive one, comprising the latest styles in bedroom and parlor sets, chairs, rockers, etc. He has also a well equipped undertaking department in connection and a workshop for doing all kinds of picture framing. His terms will be found. reasonable as those of any similar establishment in the county.
