- Leopold Schmitt, one of the oldest horseshoers of this city, died Friday morning at his residence, No. 96 Herman street, aged 57 years. He was born in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, in 1844, and came to Rochester He was a thirty-second degree Mason, a member of Yonnondio Lodge, Rochester consistory, Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine; Humboldt Lodge No. 138, I. O. O. F.; the Rochester Maennerchor, Americus Lodge No. 205, A. O. U. W.; Flower City Driving Rochester Lodge of Elks, the Horseshoers' Association and the Select Knights. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Conrad and Edward, and four daughters, Elizabeth, Lillian, Maud and Addie.
