  Isaac Erb, "fourth son of Jacob and Salome (Graybill) Erb, was born in the township and county of Waterloo, Ontario, July 23rd, 1817. He was a twin brother to Elizabeth (Mrs. Anton Reitzel). His father's old homestead where all the children were born, is now possessed by Mr. Gibson and the farm forms part of the town of Berlin. On March 4th, 1839, he was married in Lancaster, Erie County, New York, to Maria A., daughter of Beriah and Charlotte Hillman. She was born May 17th, 1817, in Otsego County, New York, and died at Bowmansville, New York, July 30th, 1848. After her decease the husband (Isaac Erb) married again. His second wife was Cynthia, daughter of Frederick and Lucy Ayer. She was born at Amherst, New York, March 13th, 1817, and died at Flint, Michigan, March 5th, 1880. He died in Washington, D. C., August 14th, 1892. His family consisted of seven children" Eby, Ezra E. (1895). A biographical history of Waterloo township and other townships of the county: being a history of the early settlers and their descendants, mostly all of Pennsylvania Dutch origin: as also much other unpublished historical information chiefly of a local character.
