It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edith, just 8 days before her 100th birthday, on Saturday, December 5, 2015 after a blessed and full life. A lifelong resident of Kitchener, she was the beloved wife of the late Fred Stiefelmeyer (2008). She will be fondly remembered by her children, Bruce and his wife Betty, Joan, John and his wife Ruth and David and his wife Lynda, as well as by her grandchildren, John (Cindy), Jill, Sara (Lin), Kate (Steve), Michael, David (Karine), Hayley (Jeremy) and Lindsay (Scott). She was the adoring great-grandmother of Martin, Caleb, Madison, Ethan, Audrey, and Connor. Edith was predeceased by her sisters, Bernice Hahn and Louise Sperling and is survived by Muriel Stauffer and May Sperling, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was an active member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church from its inception and in her younger years, she was a tireless volunteer with the Red Cross, Meals on Wheels and Guardian Angels. Friends are invited to share their memories of Edith with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. A celebration of Edith's life will be held in the chapel of the funeral home at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home. Interment will take place after the reception at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Kitchener. If desired, condolences for the family and donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
