- Passed away peacefully at K-W Health Centre of the Grand River Hospital on Monday, October 9, 2006 at the age of 86 years. Beloved husband of the late Reta (Heideman) Elchert (1984). Dear father of Elaine and her husband Roy Dunk of Toronto, and Betty Elchert and her husband Chuck Irvine of Waterloo. Brother of Arthur Elchert of Kitchener. Alexander will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sisters, Catherine Molinary, Rose Schlumkoski, Loretta Seibert, Pauline Dentinger, Betty Goodwin, and Erma Snider and his brothers, Erie, John, and Joseph Elchert. He was a loyal volunteer for 16 years at Sunnyside Home for the Aged, and was employed by B.F. Gooderich for over 30 years. Alexander's family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, (519-749-8467), Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm with parish prayers at 3: 00 pm. Prayers will be offered from the Funeral Home Chapel, on Friday, October 13, 2006 at 9: 30 am, then transfer will be made to Sacred Heart RC Church (66 Shanley St. Kitchener) for Alexander's Funeral Mass at 10am. Interment at the Woodland Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the CNIB or the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
