• Notes

  Michael Scherer died of dropsy on Sunday after an illness of two weeks, connected to a heart condition. The deceased was active from his youth as a printer. He spent his apprenticeship in Preston and later was a share-holder in the "Chronicle" in Waterloo and later in the "Kolonist," in Stratford. For several years, he published a German newspaper in Listowel and then, came to Berlin, where he served as foreman in various offices. For several years, he carried on a small press with Mr. G. C. Erb. The deceased was 65 years old and is survived by his widow, as well as eight grown children: Mrs. J. R. Loder in Jersey City, N.J., Mrs. Dr. Reick in Emporium, Pa., and Edward, Alfred, Laura, Louise, Ella, and Gertrude in Berlin. The burial took place on Wednesday afternoon of this week.
