  • Notes 
    • John Jacobi, a German immigrant, purchased part of Lot 4, east of King Street (northwest corner of King and Dupont streets) to operate a pottery. Jacobi continued to operate the business until his death circa 1871 to 1873. In 1874, the pottery and associated residence was purchased by the son Daniel who operated the pottery until 1886. The site of the original pottery was sold to the Waterloo Mutual Fire Insurance Company in 1886, and a new site was located on lots 10 and 11 (Moses Springer Survey) on the southeast corner of Dupont and Queen Street North [28 Dupont Street East]. This later pottery was demolished in 1908 (Newlands 1979: 101).
