  Edwin J. Schmidt Edwin J. Schmidt of 24 Brybeck Cres., died Sunday: at the K-W Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 70. Mr. Schmidt was born in North Easthope Township, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry G. Schmidt. He was a resident of the Twin City area all his life and was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Petersburg. He had been employed at the Canada Cabinet and Furniture Ltd. for 40 years. Illness forced his retirement in 1967. Surviving are his wife, the former Pearl Tines, whom he married in New Hamburg Jan. 29, 1919; two brothers, Henry and Austin, both of RR 1, New Hamburg; one grandson and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Mrs. Idella Watchborn, in 1955 and one sister. The body will be at the RatzBechtel Funeral Home until 11 a.m. Wednesday when removal will be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Petersburg, where Rev. Irwin Pudryski will conduct the service at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Emmanuel Lutheran cemetery. Donations to the Respiratory Research Foundation will be accepted as expressions of sympathy.
