Eddie McDaid, aged 90 years of Morningside Village, New Hamburg passed away peacefully on the 11th of November, 2022, at Hospice Waterloo in the care of their wonderful staff.

Eddie died of the cumulative effects of living a very long life.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joan of Parkwood Mennonite Home in Waterloo. Son Brian and daughter-in-law Rae of St. Catharines. Brother Jim (Janette D. 2015). Niece Karen (Richard), nephew Mark (Diane), niece Marion, nephew Raymond and great niece Angela(John) plus many cousins, great nieces and nephews and of course Auntie Josephine, all of whom live in Glasgow,Scotland.

Eddie was a 10 year old boy when he got his first job helping deliver coal from a horse-drawn cart in Glasgow. All the men were off serving in WWII, women and children were needed to keep the city going. After the war he became an apprentice bricklayer which opened the doors for Eddie with his wife and son to emigrate to Canada in 1963. Eddie and Joan built a new and prosperous life in Hamilton, eventually retiring from Dofasco and moving to New Hamburg 25 years ago.

We wish to express our sincere thanks to Eddie and Joan's friends and neighbours in Morningside Village, particularly Gary and Shirley Collins and Bob and Sharon Dietrich, who gave Eddie the subtle support which enabled him to live in his own home until the end of his life.

We would also like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff of the 7th floor of St. Mary's Hospital in Kitchener for their kind and compassionate care for Eddie in the four weeks he spent there. Angels, all of you.

      Cremation has already taken place.

When the time comes, Eddie and Joan's ashes will be taken "home" to Scotland for placement there.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Waterloo would be appreciated by the family. Personal condolences can be posted at www.markjutzifuneralhomes.ca

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, New Hamburg
