    • Mrs. H. L. Shantz of Santa Barbara, Calif., mother of Ben Shantz, Silver City attorney, died Aug. 10 in Santa Barbara hospital. Mrs. Shantz would have been' 75 years old on her next birthday, Aug. 30. Funeral services and burial were held Aug. 13 in Tucson, Ariz. Upon notification of his mother's serious illness, Shantz left here Tuesday evening to go to Santa Barbara, but death occurred before his arrival there. Immediate family survivors are Mrs. Shantz' husband, Dr. H. L. Shantz, and two sons, Ben of Silver City, and Homer Shantz of San Francisco. Dr. and Mrs. Shantz were well known here, having visited their son and his family many times in the past. They 'made their home in Tucson during the time that Dr. Shantz was president of the University of Arizona. Upon his retirement, they went to Santa Barbara where they have made their home in recent years.1
