    • Demise of Mrs., Jones, Welland

      Died, in Welland, on Friday, March 26th, 1920, Hannah Jane Salyerds, relict of the late Carlton G. Jones, in her 61st year. Mrs. Jones had been ill only a short time, an attack of bronchitis developing pneumonia, to which she succumbed. Born in Preston, she resided there until her marriage 43 years ago, and for some years afterwards, removing to Ayr 35 yrs. ago. Mr. Jones predeceased her 9 years. It is five years since the family moved to Welland. While here Mrs. Jones was a member of the Methodist Church, and was active in good works, taking a deep interest in every thing pertaining to the uplift of the community and the welfare of her family. Of the eight children, three daughters and five sons, all survive. They are Mrs. Wm. Hill, Brantford; Mrs. H. Roy Graham, Ayr; Mrs. W. B. Quantz, Torrance; George, Truman, Frank, Edwin and Carl, all of Welland. Interment was made in Ayr, the funeral taking place on Sunday afternoon from the residence of deceased's son-in-law, Mr. H. Roy Graham. Rev. J. J. Brown conducted the service, the pallbearers being Messrs. C. McGeorge, J. W, Hunt, J. J. Hodgson, Robert O. Nickerson and Robert Barnett. Among the relatives from a distance who attended the obsequies were the following: Mrs. Geo. Kiefaber (sister), Blair; others from Blair were Mr. Geo. Kiefaber, son Eddie and daughters Clara and Kathleen, from Preston; Messrs. Geo. Rose and C. Salyerds, from Galt; Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Townley; Messrs. Edgar, Chas. and Allan Jones and Norman Hamilton, Miss Staraman and Mrs. Jas. Jones.
