- HIGGINS, Edward (Ted) Peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Thursday, July 21, 2011, a long time resident of North Dumfries Township, in his 87th year. Ted was a Councillor with the North Dumfries Township for 27 years, serving the township and Waterloo region in many capacities. Beloved husband to Doris (Nee Gildner), loved father to the late W.E. (Ted) Higgins (1984). Dear brother to the late Frederick (Helen) Higgins, Kitchener, the late Nora and Joe Mannion, Thomas (Shirley) Higgins of Cambridge, John (the late Hazel) Higgins of Southampton, William (the late Eve) (Evelyn) Higgins of Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Joyce (Pentti) Taivainen of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. Dear brother-in-law to the late Wilbert and Maurerite Gildner, the late Earl (Colleen) Gildner of Tavistock, the late Donald Gildner, Bill (the late Freda) Gildner of Waterloo. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at Knox United Church (92 Northumberland St., Ayr) on Wednesday, August 3, 2011, from 1 - 4 p.m., Eulogies will be said at 3 p.m. Donations to the Diabetes Association or the Live and Play Campaign (Centre of the Community) would be appreciated.
