One of Ayr's top female athletes, Margaret Jean (Peggy) Findlater, was killed in a single vehicle crash late Sunday afternoon. Her eastbound vehicle left the Ayr-Drumbo Road, near Peacehaven Scout Camp and rolled over. A daughter of Bruce Findlater and the former Erma Thomas of Water Street, Ayr, she was in her 22nd year. Miss Findlater was born in Cambridge, attended Ayr Public, C. Cornwell Senior Public and Southwood Secondary Schools. She was employed on the Ray Dedman dairy farm, RR 1, New Dundee. Peggy was a fine softball pitcher and had played her minor ball in Ayr. This year she was a member of the Drumbo Ladies Softball Team and the Paris William Street Blues. She also played for the Ayr Rockettes ladies hockey team. Besides her parents she is survived by a sister Cindy and brother Bob at home. Resting at the Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, Paris, this afternoon and evening (Wednesday), where funeral service will be held Thursday at 1: 30 p.m. Interment in Ayr Cemetery.
