- Death of William James Baxter
William James Baxter, a well-known elder resident of Drumbo, passed away in his 82nd year in St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, on November 1st. He was born on the 10th concession of Blenheim Township, the son of the late Charles Elliott Baxter and his wife, Jessie Taylor. He attended school at the lower tenth and the Drumbo Public and Continuation Schools after the family moved to Drumbo, where his father built the feed mill. His wife, the former Margaret Karn, predeceased him about five years ago in Winnipeg, where they had lived for about 40 years. The late Mr. Baxter worked for most of his life with the Royal Bank of Canada, working his way up through all departments and retiring as a supervisor with the Supervisors' Department in Winnipeg. After his wife's death he came back to his native village and made his home with his sister-in-law, Mrs. Hugh Baxter. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Walter Tate (Jennie) and Miss Christina Baxter, and one brother, Norman Baxter, all of Hamilton. The funeral service was conducted on Sunday, Nov. 3rd, at the R. W. Rumble Funeral Home, Princeton, by Mr. Percy Brown of Willis United Church and Mr. William Davidson of the Drumbo Baptist Church. The committal service took place in the Ayr Cemetery on Tuesday, Nov. 5th.
