- Drowned While Bathing
James H., son of Mr. James Baxter, lot 10, con. 10, Blenheim, was drowned while bathing at Cranbrook, B. C., on Sunday, July 23. The friends here were notified by wire the following day and at once sent word to have the body forwarded. This was promptly attended to, the remains coming through Saturday in good shape. In the meantime arrangements had been made to have the funeral on Monday afternoon, and interment was made accordingly, a large number of relatives and friends following the remains to their last resting place in the Ayr cemetery. The services were conducted by the family pastor, Rev. Jno. Thomson of Knox church. The deceased, who was in his 24th year, was a druggist, having served apprenticeship in Drumbo, and was well and favorably known in Ayr. He had written his usual letter home just the Friday before the death summons came particulars of which sad event had not reached here when this article was written.
