- Death of George Appleyard
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Appleyard received the sad news from Dalhart, Texas, on Tuesday afternoon of the death of their only remaining son, George. No particulars have been received as to the cause of his demise. Deceased, who was 37 years of age, was born in Galt, and worked in this neighborhood for many years. He was a former member of the Ayr football team and was quite popular with his teammates and the public generally. He left here six years ago for the west, settling in the State of Oregon, where he remained until a short time ago, when he located in Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Appleyard will receive the sympathy of the entire community in the loss of their third and last remaining son. One son, William, was killed in action in France, and another, Clarence, died here after returning home from the world war. The remains will be brought here for burial.
