- Mts. Jacob Roth
The death occurred at her home south of Haysville on Tuesday afternoon of Mrs. Jacob Roth at the age of 87 years and 7 days. She had been ill for several months, having suffered a broken hip through a fall last Thanksgiving day.
The deceased was born in Germany and came to Canada with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schmehl in 1852 when they settled in Logan.
She was married in 1867 to Jacob Roth and a family of three sons and two daughters were born to them. They reside in Perth County for many years and moved to the Haysville district about thirty years ago. She was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church. Her husband predeceased her in 1917 and in 1919 one daughter, Mrs. John Riehl, of New Hamburg passed away. The remaining children are Henry, of Wellesley, John F. and Wm. S. on the homestead, and Adeline, Mrs. Samuel Hunsperger, Wilmot. Besides these she also leaves 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held this Friday afternoon with service at the house at 2 o'clock, followed by interment in Riverside Cemetery. Rev. Mr. Mosig, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, will conduct the funeral service.
