  John Alexander Smith - Lifelong Resident of Glenmorris District Called by Death - the death occurred in Glenmorris on Thursday, April 29th, of John A. Smith in his 78th year, after a brief illness. He was a continuous resident of this district, where he was engaged in farming. About 6 years ago he retired to the village of Glenmorris. Mr. Smith was a man of exemplary character, of quiet disposition and was held in high esteem by a large number of friends. He took an active part in church work and was a member of the Session of the Glenmorris church for over 40 years. He was married 48 years ago to Isabella Marshall who, with on daughter, Mrs. Robert Guthrie, Paris Plains, and one son, Edward C., on the home farm, survive; also one sister, Mrs. Wilson, Winnipeg, and one brother, William, Brantford. The funeral took place on Saturday, Mary 1st, to the Ayr Cemetery and was largely attended by friends and acquaintances. Rev. J. H. Davies, pastor of the Glenmorris church, conducted the services. The pallbearers were nephews of the deceased, viz.: Messrs. Alvin Marshall, Ernest Cochrane, J. Marshall Gillies, Sherman smith, John Murray and Earl Sharp. The Ayr News May 6 1926 pg 8
