  James Douglas Baxter Passes James Douglas Baxter of Mitchell Street, Ayr, passed away at Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital. He had been in indifferent health for some time, but was confined to hospital for only a short period to his death. A son of the late Richard Baxter and Elizabeth Lillico, he was born in Blenheim township 65 years ago. Mr. Baxter retired to Ayr from the farm four years ago. An active member of Knox United Church, Mr. Baxter served on the board of management and on the session for many years. Mr. Baxter contributed much to the community through his music and interest in local affairs. Surviving are his wife, the former Vera Rodger; two sons, David of Durham and Norman of Owen Sound; one daughter, Mrs. James ( Joan) Boland of Waterloo; one brother, Richard of RR3 Bright; two sisters, Margaret of Ayr and Mrs. J. T. (Jean) Kennedy of RR2 Paris and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother Hugh and three sisters, Isabelle, Mrs. McKenzie (Mary) Edgar and Mrs. Jarius (Elizabeth) Maus. The Funeral Funeral service was held on Saturday, August 3, at 11 a.m. in Knox United Church with Rev. D. E. Willis officiating. Pallbearers were: Richard Kennedy, Alex Edgar, William Rodger, John Maus, Clifford Lee and Hugh Baxter. Flower bearers were: Albert Pipe, Roy Campbell, Stanley Lillico, Gordon Baxter, William Hall and Vern Chenoweth. Interment was in Ayr Cemetery. The Ayr News Aug 15 1968 pg 10
