    • Death of David Rodger
Prominent Resident of Community Passed Away Sunday, in His 67th Year

It was with deep regret that the residents of this community learned of the death of David Rodger, which occurred at his home here on Sunday morning, in his 67th year. Mr. Rodger had been in indifferent health for some time.

Deceased, who was a highly respected and life-long resident of this district, was born on the family homestead on the eighth concession of Blenheim, the youngest son of the late John Rodger and Helen Cowan, who came from Scotland to settle as pioneers in the section. As a boy, Mr, Rodger attended the Muma school on the town line. Apart from several years spent in the west when a young man, he had lived on the eighth concession practically all his life. He came to Ayr three years ago to retire. He was a man prominent in the affairs of the district. For some years he was president of the Drumbo Pair. He was a staunch Liberal in politics, a member of the Ayr Masonic Lodge, the Ayr Horticultural Society and Knox United Church. A successful farmer, he was particularly interested in the raising of Shorthorn cattle and was widely known as a raiser of fine Leicester sheep.

Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. James Baxter of Ayr, and Misses Georgie and Iva Rodger, Toronto, and one son, John, eighth concession of Blenheim. Three sisters, Mrs. James E. Black of Ayr, Mrs. Andrew E. Laurie of Ayr and Miss Agnes Rodger of Detroit, also survive. There was a large attendance a,t the funeral, which was held on Tuesday afternoon to the Ayr Cemetery, many being present from outside points. The floral tributes were beautiful. Rev. J. W. Currie was in charge of the services and the pall-bearers were as follows: James Hutchison, Ernest Cochrane, William T. Edgar, Morton Guthrie, M. M. Rob-son and 'Robert Mathison.
