    • Death of Mrs. W. H. Shaw

It was with a profound shock that the community learned on Friday afternoon of the death of Frances C. Gerbig, wife of W. Howard Shaw, in her 88th year. Deceased had been ill with heart trouble for some time, but nothing of a serious nature was anticipated, and her sudden collapse from this cause was entirely unlooked for. Mrs. Shaw was born in Ayr, and was always a favorite with everyone. Of a bright, kind natured disposition, she made many friends and her untimely demise will be sadly? felt by all. She took a prominent part in many of the activities of the village and will be much missed among the various social and church organizations, the ladies bowling club, etc. It will be the home, however, where she will be missed the most. She was an exemplary wife and mother and her home was always? a model of neatness. Besides her grieving husband and two young sons, Blair? and Grant, she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Gerbig, and one brother, Harry, all of whom have the sincere sympathy of the whole community n their sad bereavement. The funeral, which was private, took place from her late residence, Hall Street, to the Ayr cemetery on Monday afternoon, the service being in charge of Rev. J. W. Currie, pastor of Knox United Church, of which deceased was a member. The pallbearers were: Messrs. R.G. Lindsay, H.R. Graham, C.S. Dalrymple, W.E. Gammon, M.A. Cochrane and J.T. Gillies.
