But the last minnutes of the sufferer were calm, and in spite of his terrible affiction he passed away peactfully, while his children and neighbors stood around his bedside,

The deceased was s typical German, having been born in Mierchensich Regierungs Bezirk Hachen, Kreis Montschau, Koenig Reich Preusen, May 14, I1823. After reaching the age of twenty years and serving the time required in the army of his native land he emigrated to Canada, which was short fifty-five years ago. His first venture to make his own living in the New World was in Berlin, then a hamlet. Here he learned the tailoring trade. He afterwards kept a hotel in Strasburg, probably about forty fire years ago. He has Lived in Conestogo about forty-one or forty-two years where he worked at his trade. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, and the burial services were conducted by that denomination on Monday last. the funeral was largely attended by relatives friends, and neighbors who assembled to pay their last tribute of respect to a worthy neighbor and friend,
