  • Notes
    • Miss Elizabeth Wilkinson Passes - There passed away at Laurel Nursing Home, Woodstock, early Monday morning, February 6, Miss Elizabeth (Bessie) Wilkinson after a long illness. A native of Washington, only daughter of William Smith Wilkinson and his wife Margaret Hall, she was born on lot 11, Concession 13, east of the village. Her early years were spent there until, at the death of her father, the family moved to Woodstock. Her higher education was received at Woodstock College, after which she trained for a nurse in a New York hospital, and practiced her profession there. An interesting period of her life was spent as nursing companion to a French lady when they travelled around the world. Retiring in Woodstock, part of these years were spent employed at the office in the Y.W.C. A. Presbyterian by faith, Miss Wilkinson belonged to Knox Church, and while physically able was active in the interests of group work. An only brother, Dr. W. S. Wilkinson, died on the eve of the Dr. Byrd expedition which he was to have accompanied. The funeral was held today (Wed.), from the F. F. Rowell Funeral Home, Woodstock, with temporary entombment in Woodstock Cemetery Mausoleum, followed by burial later in Ayr Cemetery. Mrs. D. E. Stauffer and Gordon Kaufman, of this locality are cousin, of Miss Wilkinson.
