Notes |
- Carl Buck
Former Ayr businessman Charles E. (Carl) Buck passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 30th, 1999. A long time resident of Ayr, he more recently had resided at Golden Years Nursing Home, Cambridge. Born near Drumbo in 1906, he was a son of Charles Buck and Pearl, Harley. The Buck family moved to Keg Lane, Paris in 1913, Carl Married Madge Russell of Paris in 1932. They moved to Ayr in 1934 where he owned and operated County Garage until his retirement in 1981. During that time he was a respected dealer for General Motors products, Frigidaire appliances and the Texaco Oil Company. Carl was extremely proud of the fact his firm sold more cars in a year than many other much larger dealerships, with customers from a wide area stretching from Toronto to Chatham. One year sales exceeded 1,000 new cars and trucks plus used vehicles. He was a faithful member and past master of Ayr Masonic Lodge for over 50 years; a member of Knox United Church and eight year member of the former Ayr School Board. Predeceased by his wife Madge in 1986; sister Margaret and four brothers Roscoe, Ernie, Mel and Bob. Loving father of Don and Betty of Kitchener, Peg and Bill Code of Calgary, Alberta, Brian and Lia of Washington, Ontario. Special grandpa to nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister Verna Westman of Princeton; sisters-in-law Margaret (Tiny) and her husband Clarence Barber of Paris, Gladys Russell of Flint, Michigan; Terry Buck of Ayr and many cherished nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, Paris on Sunday, October 3rd. Wilma Bolton officiated. Interment was in Ayr Cemetery.
