  Alexander McDonald Passes - Lifelong Resident of District, He Was One of Oldest Members of Knox United Church Session - The death occurred in Ayr on Saturday morning, at his home on Colquhoun Street, of Alexander McDonald, a lifelong resident of this district. Born near New Dundee 86 years ago, the late Mr. McDonald had farmed there until his retirement some years ago. He was one of the oldest members of the session of Knox United Church and was always much interested in the work of the congregation. He married the former Sarah Adams 57 years ago, and she survives, along with four sons, Hugh of Galt, Walter of Preston, Franklin of Plattsville and Howard of Ratho. A brother, John McDonald of Ayr, also survives. The Funeral The funeral took place Monday afternoon with a large number of friends, neighbors and relatives in attendance. A private service was held at his late residence at 2 o'clock, followed by a public service in Knox United Church at 3 o'clock. Rev. J. W. Currie, pastor emeritus, had charge of the services. Mrs. Floyd Holman and Mrs. Walter Bell rendered a lovely vocal duet, "the City Four Square," at the church, accompanied by Mrs. N. R. Morton. The pallbearers were: Murdo McRae, Albert Gillespie, Ivan Hall and George Easton of Ayr; Edward Stoltz and Alfred Sararas of New Dundee. There were many beautiful floral tributes and the flower-bearers were, George Stocton, George Smye, F. R. McGrogan, H. C. Schlichter, Richart Baxter, and Dr. W. Woolner.
