    • Mrs. Alex McDonald, 100, Passes

      A former well-known Ayr resident, who celebrated her 100th birthday on April 26th of this year, Mrs. Alex McDonald passed away at South Waterloo Memorial Hospital, Galt, on Saturday. The former Sarah Adams, she was born on a farm near Roseville, a daughter of the late Thomas Adams and Sarah Tilley Adams. She was one of a family of ten. Following her marriage to Alex McDonald, they farmed in that area for many years before retiring to Ayr. Her husband predeceased her in 1946 and Mrs. McDonald subsequently moved to Galt. She had been a resident of Eventide Home in that city for the past six years. Mrs. McDonald was a member of Knox United Church, Ayr, and for many years was active in Women's Institute work. She is survived by four sons, Franklin, Plattsville; Hugh, Galt; Howard, Bright, Walter, Preston; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

      The Funeral

      Funeral service was held on Tuesday from Little's Funeral Home, Galt, conducted by Rev. A. H. Vair of Preston. Interment was made in Ayr Cemetery. Pallbearers were: John McDonald, Ayr; J. S. Lake, Galt; Harry Scott, Elora; Stanley Adams, Waterloo; James Chesney, Innerkip and Leslie Bryce, Wingham.
