  The Christian Guardian", July 1877 Sophia Burkholder Beasley was born in the township of Barton,about three miles from where the city of Hamilton now stands. In her 16th year she was brought to God at a camp meeting held in the neighborhood. She joined the Methodist Church and remained connected with it until her death. After her mariage she removed to Hamilton and beca me a charter member of the First Methodist Church on King St. Her illness was lingering, but her faith was deep and permanent, having a firm trust in Christ. She died peacefully May 4, 1877, at her home in Hamilton.
