  Died in Blenheim Township, on Saturday, June 27, 1931, at 11.20 a. m. William McRuer aged 77 years. The Funeral will take place from his late residence, Lot 33, Con. 5 South Dumfries, on Tuesday, June 30th, at 2.30 p. m., to the Ayr Cemetery. Funeral Card ________________ William McRue Death Claims Prominent South Dumfries Farmer The death occurred on Saturday at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Morton Hall, Blenheim township, of William McRuer, a well-known and highly esteemed resident of South Dumfries, aged exactly 77 years, his demise having occurred on his birthday. He was born at Lachute, Quebec, and when a lad of eleven came to Ayr with his family and settled on a farm one-half mile west of the White School. The family was induced to remove to this section on account of an uncle of the deceased, Rev. Duncan McRuer, pastor of Knox Church, being located here. Deceased was married in 1882 to Elizabeth Gillow of Norwich, who predeceased him in 1919. He was a lifelong and valued member of Knox United Church and was a member of the Session for many years. He is survived by the following two sons and two daughters: William J., Robert A., Mrs. Wyllie Guthrie and Mrs. Morton Hall. The Ayr News Jul 2 1931 pg 1
